Our family-run Mara camp is nestled along the banks of the breathtaking Mara River, shaded by the unique riverine forest and set on the edge of the renowned Paradise Plains. Located within the world-famous Maasai Mara National Reserve, Roca River Camp is perfectly positioned to offer guests seamless access to both the main reserve and the Mara Triangle—ensuring an unforgettable safari experience in one of Africa’s most iconic wildlife destinations.

We offer 10 spacious, en-suite tents, each equipped with flush toilets, hot showers on request, 24-hour solar power, fans, and hairdryers. The tents are tastefully appointed with white linens, woven rugs, and hand-crafted furniture—perfectly blending comfort with character. Our camp reflects the philosophy of ‘necessary luxuries,’ maintaining a light footprint and a minimal impact on the environment.

A Typical Day on Safari at Roca River
Each day on safari is thoughtfully tailored to your personal interests and pace—whether you’re seeking adventure, relaxation, or a bit of both. The flexibility of our itinerary allows you to immerse yourself in the rhythm of the wild, with our experienced team curating every detail to ensure a seamless and enriching experience. Below is an outline of a typical day on safari, though every day can be as relaxed or as active as you wish.
Full-day excursions with a picnic lunch in the bush are a popular option and can be arranged for one or more days of your stay—ideal for exploring deeper into the reserve or visiting the Mara Triangle.
6:00am – Wake up to the gentle sounds of nature and enjoy freshly brewed coffee or tea by the campfire
6:15am – Depart for a morning game drive or guided bush activity, catching the golden light and the early stirrings of wildlife
9:30am – Return to camp for a leisurely breakfast (or opt to enjoy it out on the plains, surrounded by wildlife)
10:30am – 12:30pm – Take time to relax in camp: read a book, birdwatch from your veranda, or simply soak in the peaceful surroundings
1:00pm – Lunch is served in camp, featuring fresh, locally sourced ingredients
2:00pm – 4:00pm – Siesta time—rest, unwind, or indulge in a spa treatment (available in high season)
4:00pm – Afternoon tea is served with sweet and savoury treats
4:30pm – Head out on your afternoon game drive or another late-day activity, often ending with sundowners in a scenic spot
7:00pm – Return to camp for a hot shower and a chance to refresh
7:45pm – Gather around the campfire for a drink and to share stories from the day
8:00pm – A delicious three-course dinner is served under the stars, accompanied by the sounds of the African night
9:30pm – Retire to your tent for the evening with a nightcap or a soothing cup of fresh ginger or mint tea
